KANAGA Mask Dogon Mali

This specimen has a very nice patina and makes a very strong statement in a room.

The Kanaga mask is one of the most important among the Dogon people. It represents a bird, a human with four arms, but this is more the representation of the double creator god facing heaven and earth in the Ara society.

It brings eternal rest to the deceased while protecting the living from evil. On the other hand, the Kanaga mask is also used to protect hunter from revenge of the prey he killed.
