Icon of French design from the 70's.
The Algerian-French master of metal Max Sauze was born in Algiers in 1933.
In 1968, Sauze founded his eponymous company to work with aluminum—with a focus on dynamic, sculptural lighting. His designs often involve bent and linked aluminum strips attached to steel wire structures.
Sauze's famous designs are named after constellations and other celestial bodies. The Uranus table lamp (ca. 1970) was presented at the Salon des Artistes Décorateurs.
